Built on compassion. Driven by second chances.
Rising Sun Animal Rescue is a foster-based nonprofit dedicated to saving at-risk animals and strengthening animal welfare through collaboration, responsible care, and safe transport.
A local answer to an urgent shelter need.
Rising Sun Animal Rescue was founded in response to local shelter crowding and the difficult capacity challenges that put animals at risk.
Our work focuses on foster-based rescue and coordinated transport to trusted rescue partners where animals have greater opportunities for placement.
Responsible intake, transparency, and capacity-based decisions help us protect every animal already in our care while making room for the next life that needs us.
To save animals by reducing euthanasia through compassionate rescue, responsible transport, and collaborative partnerships that give every animal a chance at a better future.
A future where no animal loses their life because of limited space, resources, or opportunity, and every animal has the chance to live safely and be loved.
The values behind every decision
Four commitments shape how we care, collaborate, and choose the safest next step.
Compassion
We meet animals and people with empathy, kindness, and respect for the worth of every life.
Collaboration
We work with shelters, rescues, fosters, volunteers, and supporters because lifesaving takes a network.
Responsibility
We prioritize accountability, transparency, appropriate care, and safe, humane placement.
Hope
We create pathways to safety and healing because every animal deserves a genuine second chance.
