Where love and light meet.
Rising Sun Animal Rescue saves animals from overcrowded Northwest Louisiana shelters and gives them safe passage to loving homes through fostering, responsible transport, and a community that refuses to give up.
Every number represents a new beginning.
Every animal deserves a chance at a brighter tomorrow.
We save lives by reducing euthanasia in local shelters through compassionate rescue, responsible transport, and partnerships that give every animal a future.
Rising Sun is foster-based, meaning every animal in our care lives in a home, not a kennel, while waiting for the right family.
Three steps. One mission.
From the shelter to a safe next step, this is how Rising Sun moves animals forward.
Open your home. Save a life.
Fostering is one of the most powerful things you can do for a shelter animal. Rising Sun provides the support, and you provide the love.

Sunshine was the first life Rising Sun saved.
Sunshine’s photos mark the beginning of this rescue’s story: one animal given safety, care, and the chance to be happy again.
Every frightened animal still waiting at the parish shelter deserves that same chance. Fosters, donors, volunteers, and veterinary partners help turn fear into comfort and waiting into home.
